Great review Matt. As you know, I’m not a Michael Bay hater, specifically for the reasons you listed early on. I enjoy (most of) his movies on their own terms. However, the first TRANSFORMERS movie wasn’t very good (although the spectacle of it was fun to see in the theater), and everything I’ve heard about this movie is making it out to be the most unholy and excessive abomination to come out of Hollywood since WEEKEND AT BERNIE’S 2. Except it’s making tons and tons of money, making this the biggest gap between audiences and critics in the history of cinema. I’d feel like I’m contributing to the culture of stupidity in mainstream cinema by paying to see this thing, but I also want to see it for myself in the theater and form my own opinion. Dammit, what’s a guy to do?
