November 19th
I slunk into my room feeling so bone-tired that I didn’t even think to jam the door-lock. A few minutes later, I heard a key click in the lock. I am a prisoner again. My foolishnesses has cost me another day in the Count’s clothes.

Oh, but where was I?

We started our night, as we did yesterday, in the Banquet Hall. The dinner passed in chatter between the Lucys and whomever they could engage in frivolities. Jonathan and Morris talked dividends. When I came to Van Helsing, I shook hands. I noticed Christa and Morris’ conversing in low voices near the wings. I grabbed Van Helsing, and drew her in close.

“Nosferatu roam this estate,” I whispered, my mouth so close to her ear that she unconsciously shivered. “We are prisoners.”

She punched my shoulder at little more uneasily than usual. “Way to get into the spirit of things!” Her mirth sounded almost forced.

“The plan, Leah, we need to–” My voice cut out as Christa herded the guests out of the Banquet Hall and into their next scenes—all except Jonathan.

The arrangements to buy London estates were made quickly and without much of the scripted chatter. The puns didn’t seem as funny to me now. I only briefly eyed the picture of his fiancée Mina. When Jonathan made a crack about Japanese businessmen gobbling up all of the good property in the West, I kicked his shins under the table.
