November 22nd, later

Around nine, another note was slipped under my door—this one in Christa’s dry script. It announced that the night’s role-play would take place in the hidden conservatory, where the Vampire Hunters set up an ambush for the Count. I flipped to the end of the script. I was to be summarily dispatched this night.

There was a happy post-script announcing Jared’s joining of Lady Karnstein’s investment team. As a shareholder, his entitlements included a free year-round reservation in one of the deluxe shareholder suits and a complementary full bar. There was a second post-script, this one scribbled on hastily, regretfully informing us that the Lady Karnstein’s plane had been delayed in Ontario for repairs and would be another day or two late. There was no mention of Leah.

One final curtain for the Count. I suppose we could delay our leaving for that.
