Transylvania Towers

“Let me show you to your room.”

There was another set of stairs hidden behind the banquet hall that led to the third floor. Christa was really deep into the role-play—she took a lit candle as a guiding light and didn’t even wince when hot wax dabbled on her skin. She led me to a room along the small, drafty hallway. The door looked weathered and badly scored by flame.

“I see you are admiring the door. It was imported from the Karnstein home in Styria—the real Styria.”

Inside, she gave a quick tour. There was a double-wide coffin for a bed, black drapes over the small window to keep out the sun during the twilight hours, a small desk for composing letters to my real-estate agents in “London,” and a large four-poster bed for seducing victims. I asked if I could sleep on the four-poster bed, but Christa shook her head and pointed to the four gargoyle heads on the ceiling.

“This room is taped at all times. Please follow your script to complete the role-play.”

She pulled out a small form and asked me to sign on the first and third pages. The text was too small to read in the low light, and really a taste of EULAs had given me an inherent disdain for legalese, it didn’t bother me so much at the time. I signed quickly.

“Good.” She smiled toothily. “Most everything that you need to know is in your script. But there are a few– techniques–for a successful Dracula that you will need to take to heart.”

Christa advanced. I wanted to ask her to leave but the money was important to Leah. She brushed up against my body, her legs rubbed against mine.

“You will have to learn how to properly seduce your victims.”

Her fingers brushed over my lips.

“The way you court them is very important, my dear Dracula. You have to mesmerize.”
